Description
A view of the front elevation of the Midland Bank, 6 Threadneedle Street, City of London. The original building is on the extreme right of the photo and was built on a corner site in 1856 by W. Mosely. It was later extended along Threadneedle Street. It was Grade II listed in 1972; listing number 1079129. The entrance seen in the photo has Doric pilasters and an elaborate scrolled broken pediment with a coat of arms in the centre. It also has a cherub head keystone above the door. All the ground-floor windows are covered with ornate ironwork grilles. The photo is taken from the entrance of what was then the National Westminster Bank Overseas Branch. One of the pillars flanking the entrance can be seen on the left of the photo.
