View of Threadneedle Street
Description
Front elevation of 60-61 Threadneedle Street, City of London, taken from the opposite side of the road. Number 61 had been the London premises of the North British and Mercantile Insurance Company until after World War II. Part of the signage for the Threadneedle Street Post Office (designed by the Post Office's architectural department and built in 1930) is visible to the right of the photograph. The buildings became part of the site owned by the London Stock Exchange. The land was sold in 2001 and redeveloped as '60 Threadneedle Street', a new ten-storey building, at the same time as the re-cladding of the Stock Exchange Tower.
