Description
View along Mason's Avenue, a narrow pedestrian street in the City of London, looking west towards Basinghall Street and showing the premises of Selection Trust, a mining finance house founded in 1913 and acquired by BP in 1980. The entrance features carved lions' heads and a flagpole. The building, which stands on the site of the former hall of the Worshipful Company of Masons, has since been redeveloped into modern office space. Other buildings in Mason's Avenue and their half-timbered elevations remain, although with altered facades on the ground-floor level; restaurants and pubs mainly occupy the premises these days. In the background, a van is parked or driving along Basinghall Street, and silhouettes of a couple of people are visible in the passageway.
