View, from a side passage, of an ornamental doorway 33 Mark Lane, City of London, with number 33 showing in the glass panel above the door, and partly-visible advertising posters in the windows. The posters include [...]ry & Barker, [...]s, Jehy & Co., [Gray] & Tarry, and advertisements for 'sacks, sample bags, twines, garden nettings' etc. This wide-fronted three-storey mansion was built in the early eighteenth century and was said to have been the residence of the Spanish ambassador, but by the time captured here it had been in use as an office building. It no longer exists; it used to be situated 70 yards north of Great Tower Street on the west side of Mark Lane, which sustained severe bomb damage in World War II and was completely redeveloped.
