Description
A view of the interior of the ground-floor hall at 187 Fleet Street, City of London. This building was built in 1834 to the designs of John Shaw Junior as the offices of the Law Life Assurance Society. This society was acquired by Phoenix Assurance Company Limited in 1909/10. 187 Fleet Street continued to serve as the Law Courts branch of the Phoenix group until 1968. In this photograph, the room is empty apart from radiators, desks, light fittings and a mirror.
