Interior of building in New Bridge Street
Description
A view of the main room on the first floor inside the Grade II listed 15 New Bridge Street, City of London. The room contains classical features including a decorated plaster cornice bordering the ceiling. On the left hand side of the room are two double doored windows each with single panelled radiator cover built into the wall beneath them. On the wall between the windows is a decorative wall light with crystal droplets hanging from it. The walls contain large panels and at the bottom of the walls are tall skirting boards with two plug sockets attached. Dominating one side of the room are two Victorian panelled marble fireplaces. Each fireplace consists of four panels with single rectangular panels on the piers flanking the central arch with small circular medalians containing carved foliage in the spaces at the sides of the arch. At the top of the fireplace arch can be seen a keystone containing decorative carved markings. Each fireplace has a flat mantel piece. Hanging from the ceiling are two large crystal chandeliers. The floor is covered by a dark carpet. It is not known how much of the interior survives.
