Buildings in Old Broad Street
Description
A view of the 16-19 Old Broad Street, City of London including on the left, Philip Harwick's classical City of London Club of 1833-1834 at 19 Old Broad Street with features such as the semi-circular and triangular pediments and tall rectangular windows.

At the front of the entrance on the wall containing classical balustrades are two large lanterns.

Numbers 16 to 18 Old Broad Street are in the nineteenth-century Italianate architectural style and show exterior dirt from pollution. The ground floor of the five-storey number 18 has been modernised probably in c1930s. Iron railings can be seen on the second to fourth floor windows.

The end of number 16-17 Old Broad Street a traditional bank building occupied by Williams & Glayn's Bank can be seen on the far right and includes classical architectural features such as the first floor windows flanked with Corinthian columns surmounted by triangular pediments.

Part of the early twentieth-century 22 Old Broad Street can be seen on the far left of the photograph. Flag poles can be seen in the photograph. The buildings apart from number 22 (replaced by a 1970s office block) survive though have been cleaned and modernised such as a new ground floor front added to number 18 in a style more in keeping with the rest of the building.

The buildings on the far left hand side were replaced by office buildings in the 1990s.
