View of Ludgate Hill
Description
A view of Ludgate Hill, City of London, looking west from the steps of St Paul's Cathedral. In the foreground is a statue of Queen Anne which was unveiled in 1886, replacing the 1712 original. The first building on the right is entirely taken up by Goodman's Dentist. Next to it is the head office of the Temperance Permanent Building Society. Further down the hill is White's Temperance Hotel and beyond it the spire of St Martin's. The street is crowded with horse-drawn vehicles, including many omnibuses.
