View of a ground-floor front room in 12 Austin Friars, City of London. The walls have wainscotting with plain plaster above, and large sash windows towards the front, barricaded with corrugated iron sheeting on the outside. The fireplace is boarded up and fitted with a vent, with a simple surround, a carved mantle shelf with a dentil frieze below, and a tiled hearth flush with the timber floor. The room is under renovation seen with removed doors and radiator covers stored around the walls, along with loose wiring. The 1883 four-storey building is Grade II listed, listing number 1191447 and was formerly the office of Martin Burn Limited, estate agent (based in Kolkata), and the Indian Iron and Steel Company Limited, named Martin Burn House, and since renamed 'Furniture Makers' Hall', an events venue.
