View at the foot of a circular winding staircase in 12 Austin Friars, City of London. The inside staircase balustrading has been encased with protective plywood cladding, together with temporary plywood covering the treads laid during the ongoing renovation of the interior. The outside balustrading has closely-spaced dark wood barley twist spindles and a broad handrail. The rear room at the bottom of the stair is seen with loose electrical wiring, various brushes, buckets and bins, around the floor, along with a sawhorse and cast-iron radiators stacked against a wall. The soffit of the stair, and first-floor landing, is decorated with plaster moulded panels. The 1883 four-storey building is Grade II listed, listing number 1191447 and was formerly the office of Martin Burn Limited, estate agent (based in Kolkata), and the Indian Iron and Steel Company Limited, named Martin Burn House, and since renamed 'Furniture Makers' Hall', an events venue.
