View of late nineteenth-century four-storey classical office building with shops at the ground floor at 4 and 5 Bell Yard, City of London, looking north. The mid-nineteenth century, Grade II listed, listing number 1357187, building is the premises of Butterworth and Company Limited (publishers) showroom, seen with books on display in the window with sacks piled up on the pavement below, and also the editorial offices of the Law Journal. The wooden gates to the rear of the Law Court’s branch of the Bank of England, at 194 Fleet Street, can be seen, right, along with the back of flats above The Mitre public house in Chancery lane, behind. The offices have since been converted to luxury apartments, and The Old Bank of England to a public house of the same name.
