View of main entrance to Austin Friars House at 2 Austin Friars, City of London, looking north. The offices of Midland Bank Limited, with brokerage firms offices above, are seen under renovation with temporary door fitted in the entrance, scaffold boards and builders rubble piled next to the doorway, and a contractors board of William Verry, mounted on the Roman stone balustrading, above. The building was damaged beyond repair during World War II, and subsequently rebuilt in a similar style to the surrounding buildings with Gothic stone dressing, ornate pilasters with carved capitals, heavy cornicing, ashlar banding, rusticated panels, and high-arched, stone-mullioned, and ocular windows. The side of more offices of Midland Bank (now a retail outlet) at 119 to 122 Old Broad Street are visible, right.
