View along Bengal Court (formerly White Lion Court), City of London, looking east towards the rear of the George and Vulture, public house, and the passage leading to George Yard. The Grade II listed, listing number 1359146 former restaurant, and premises of Messrs Turnbull and Company, left, has a glazed and timber-clad ground-floor 'shop front', with a stock brick fascia of above. The hall-type brick building, right, at 21 Birchin Lane, are the premises of Williams Deacon's Bank Limited, and has tall arched windows, with stone keystones, and seen with a bicycle secured to a grill in front of the basement windows. The bank building has been replaced by five-storey offices. The renowned George and Vulture chop house was said to be a meeting place of the Hellfire club, and has been the headquarters of the City Pickwick Club.
