Description
View east across Aldersgate and along Barbican (now Beech Street), City of London. The wall bearing the Esso hoarding is the western elevation of 59 Barbican. New Zealand Avenue, which was entirely destroyed in the Blitz, ran north of Barbican between numbers 60 and 61. The range of buildings on the right is 2-12 Barbican up to the turning south (right) into Australian Avenue, with 15 Barbican on the other side of that junction. The string-coursed building in the centre in the distance is Midland Bank, 62 Redcross Street.
