Image presented to Housing Committee of L.C.C. by Abbey Estate tenants on the opening of new hall by Hugh Sutherland, 19th September
Description
One of several boards of newspaper clippings presented to the London County Council (LCC) Housing Committee in September 1960 by the tenants of the Abbey Estate. Taken from local newspapers, the clippings refer to developments on the estate and the activities of the tenants’ association. Headings include “Minister will hear tenants opinions on rubbish tip plan” and “Debs’ Night at Abbey Estate”. A common theme of the clippings is the provision of a community hall for the estate; before the centre on Eynsham Road was completed in 1963, the LCC provided several temporary buildings. These boards were presented at the opening of one of the halls.
