A Policeman holds up traffic while a woman distributes flowers on Alexandra Rose Day. Queen Alexandra (1844 - 1925), widowed consort of King Edward VII (reigned 1901 - 1910) marked the 50th anniversary of her arrival in Britain from Denmark in 1863 by requesting that roses be sold each June to raise money for her favourite charities. Alexandra was nicknamed 'The rose of Denmark' by the British public when she arrived here.
The van behind the policeman carries advertisements for Latham & Co. Ltd. Horse drawn traffic is also visible.
