These Georgian townhouses date from the early eighteenth century and the rear elevations overlook the river Thames. The three-storey house in the centre is 57 Petersham Road, which has a three-window range and large single bays largely obscured by overgrowth. To the left of the image, a single dormer, bay and brick chimney stack can be seen at number 55 and to the right of the image, twin dormers can be seen at number 59. The three properties are Grade II listed, listing numbers: 55 Petersham Road - 1065330, 57 Petersham Road - 1357739, 59 Petersham Road - 1065331. Aleister Crowley, a popular occultist and magician,, lived at number 57 Petersham Road, from 1939-41. All the buildings in the image are within the Richmond Hill Conservation Area.
