Description
View of the Grade II* listed entrance gate and front door to Percy House at 796 High Road, Tottenham, looking east. Both the forecourt walls and railings and the house are separately listed, listing number 1079243 and 1079242 respectively. The mid-eighteenth century house was built by Sir Hugh Smithson, Duke of Northumberland, an ancestor of Sir Henry Percy whose nickname "Harry Hotspur" inspired Tottenham Hotspur’s name and its famous emblem of a fighting cock. The building has been renovated with the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund to become a community hub and the new home of the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation.
