Title
High Street in Hornsey
Description
View of the High Street in Hornsey, looking towards the New River. On the left side of the road, a crowd of men, women, and children appears to be waiting for transport, possibly an omnibus service. Leafy trees line both sides of the street. In the distance, horse-drawn carts or cars can be seen approaching. A notable feature still present today is a granite fountain and cattle trough by the Metropolitan Drinking Fountain and Cattle Trough Association. The inscription reads: 'The Fear of the Lord is the Fountain of Life.' This landmark is located on the north side of Hornsey High Street, just west of Cross Lane.
