Title
Houses in Alliance Road
Description
Alliance Road, Plumstead, was developed during the interwar years on the site of the brickworks in Wickham Valley between Woolwich Cemetery and Bostall Woods. This view shows the rear elevation and paved yard of one of the interwar terraced houses on the northeast side of the road, some of which still stand today between numbers 33 and 45. The wooden frames of the doors and windows are possibly original, and the cracked render on the steps serving the kitchen and patio doors indicate some disrepair. Some motion-blurred garments are shown pegged to two washing lines. A row of ornate ridge tiles is just visible above the guttering.
