Title
Houses in Queen Anne's Gate
Description
Front elevations of terraced townhouses at 18-20 Queen Anne's Gate, Westminster, featuring semicircular arched doorways with fanlights. The whole terrace, which comprises even numbers 14-24, dates from 1775-78 and is Grade I listed, listing number 1227298. A man wearing a flat cap stands in the open doorway to the partly-visible number 22, where two ladders lean against the railings. This part of the street was originally a close called Park Street, separated by a wall from the western part called Queen Square. Number 20 now carries a blue plaque commemorating Lord Palmerston, the Prime Minister, who was born there in 1784.
