Description
Front elevation of 11 Queen Street, Mayfair. Queen Street runs north from Curzon Street to Charles Street. Number 11, mid-nineteenth century, four-storey building with attic and basement. A balustraded roof parapet and cast-iron geometric balcony to the first floor. Architraved doorway with console bracketed cornice hood. It is Grade II listed, number 1227449. The brick building is the side elevation of the headquarters of the English Speaking Union which fronted onto Charles Street. Bay window to the ground and first floor. Formed in 1918 by Sir Evelyn Wrench, its aim was to promote international fellowship and peace. The building is now a hotel.
