The exterior has smooth, light-coloured render with dark-painted plinth on lower base and multi-pane sash windows with dark-painted frames. Opposite is a commercial mews block with uniform glazed bricks, structural brick arches over lower garage doorways and a prominent, ornate black iron swan-neck gas lamp arm projecting over pavement. A sign below the lamp reads “GTC”, the General Trading Company established its flagship headquarters here at 1, 3 and 5 Grantham Place from 1946 until 1964, eventually moving to Sloane Street. The building to the rear is 11 Brick Street, Holderness House Stables, Grade II Listed, October 1994; entry 1250986. Former stables and coach house features elaborate Dutch gables with pyramidal tops with moulded brick niches. A large archway with dark timber gate leads to central internal courtyard of the stable complex. Erected in 1882-3 by James Brooks as stables for the Marquis of Londonderry, it has continuously been used as large single-family private dwelling. Parked cars include a Ford ConsulMk1, pre-war classic British saloon, Austin Ten and a 1930s Austin Light Twelve-Four.
