Description
Grantham Place Court, Westminster. Shows view of residential apartment block with Art Deco and Modern Movement style. Exterior has smooth, light-coloured render with dark-painted plinth on lower base and multi-pane sash windows with dark-painted frames. The top floor has pantiled roof featuring two prominent dormer windows built into the slope. A sign reads “Grantham Place Court” directly above ground-floor windows. Commercial mews block can be seen to the right with open garage bays and industrial-style folding timber doors, a sign reads “garage parking”. An Austin K-8 “Three-Way” van is park inside one of the garages. Sign on curved brick and rendered wall to right reads “Private Property No. 2”. The brick wall to left has a “GTC” sign, the General Trading Company established its flagship headquarters here at 1, 3 and 5 Grantham Place from 1946 until 1964, eventually moving to Sloane Street. A 1953-1956 Wolseley car can be seen with registration plate “TOK 84”.
