View of Great Peter Street
Description
View of Great Peter Street, Westminster, at the junction of Tufton Street. A large group of men, women, children and babies, as well as a dog, are posing for the photograph outside the corner shop at 24 Tufton Street. Its walls display advertisements for Sunlight Soap, Hudson's Soap, Dewars Whisky and Batey's ginger beer. Business premises further down have a 'To let by Mess Trollope' sign. The buildings shown here no longer exist. They were replaced in 1925 by The Mary Sumner House, the headquarters of The Mothers' Union, which has since been Grade II listed, listing number 1380170, and is in use now as a meeting room and conference space.
