A shopkeeper, wearing an apron, is looking at the camera. The shops include Langston & Sons, with a ladder resting against wall and a man working on the porch roof. Signs for Cooper's Arms and a brewery are fainly visible beyond it. A gas street light stands on the pavement. The tower od St Mary's Church looms in the distance on the right; the church is Grade II* listed, listing number 1065519. This entire area has been redeveloped, with a large office block replacing the buildings to the right and all buildings to the left having been rebuilt.
