Shop at 8 St Mark Street and houses at 8-12 North Tenter Street, Whitechapel, viewed from North Tenter Street looking south-west. In the centre foreground is the junction of North Tenter Street and St Mark Street. On the corner, with its main window on North Tenter Street and its entrance on the junction, number 8 St Mark Street is a grocery shop run by B Ogazi & Sons selling “dozens of provisions.” On the side wall in St Mark Street, it advertises fresh dairy and farm produce, fruit and vegetables and pictures of a basket of fruit and a basket of vegetables are painted on the wall. Other adverts are for “Tizer the Appetizer”, White’s lemonade, Pepsi, Senior Service cigarettes and Green Shield stamps. There is a bollard outside the shop entrance. Beyond the shop are two nineteenth-century terraced houses at 8 and 10 North Tenter Street. There is a van outside number 8. The shop and houses all still exist though the shop is now a barber’s and the frontage of number 12 North Tenter Street has been altered and modernised. The shop was built in the early nineteenth-century and listed Grade II in 1989, listing number 1357556.
