Built in the mid-nineteenth century as a family home called Ellerslie, it was bought and enlarged in the 1890s by the Edwards family and renamed Blakesley. After the family left c1913, Blakeley House became a small preparatory school and remained so until 1939, when it was requisitioned as a first-aid post.
