Description
Market Stalls in Crown Passage, Kingston-upon-Thames, looking north-east from the junction with Eden Street. It has been raining, so only a few shoppers are seen; JM Arlett's stall is open but its neighbour has packed up. In the background is a menswear shop, the Quick Snacks cafe, and the Apple Market Sound Centre selling and buying HiFi equipment. A Jaguar car is parked half on the pavement of the narrow road, blocking the passage of a larger shop delivery van behind and the driver has arrived to move it. The buildings in the photograph still exist and the street has since been pedestrianised.
