Description
Sudbrook Lodge cottage in Upper Ham Road, Petersham. It is located near the junction with Ham Gate Avenue and opposite the New Inn pub. The Cottage to Sudbrook Lodge and the Wall on Upper Ham Road are Grade II listed, listing number 1261978. Built in the late seventeenth to early eighteenth centuries, the cottage was originally the coach house serving Sudbrook Lodge, developed by the Wigington family of timber merchants into living accommodation. It has since been renamed The Old Coach House. Sudbrook Cottage was for many years the residence of the writer, playwright and public speaker Beverley Nichols until his death in 1983.
