Description
Sydney Road is an estate of late-Victorian houses off Church Road in the Sheen Road conservation area of Richmond-upon-Thames. This view from the southernmost of the road's two right-angled corners shows three blocks of three-storey terraced houses at 24-36 on the west side of Sydney Road, number 36 being in the foreground. The frontages of the outer houses of each terrace are perpendicular to those of the inner houses, number 36's entrance being to the left of view partly hidden by garden foliage. It also appears to have a door to its first floor to access the roof of the extension, which has since had iron railings fitted. Some of the houses have been extended to the rear and the outer houses of adjacent terraces have extended their front entrances to face the street, almost forming one continuous terrace. Many have also had their front gardens turned into carports, so the trees shown have since been removed. However, the rounded brick corner boundary wall in the foreground is still in place today. Some cars are also shown parked across the road in a controlled area, the nearest being a Ford Anglia.
