Description
Ellison Road is a cul-de-sac off Cleveland Road just outside the Barnes Green conservation area of Richmond-upon-Thames. This view, obscured by trees and foliage in the front gardens, shows a pair of two-storey brick cottages with a slate hipped roof and central chimney stack at numbers 17-19 Ellison Road, which appear in the 1891 Ordnance Survey map to be standing in relative isolation at the end of the east side of the road, the west side having pairs of semi-detached houses, although the houses now standing in the gap on the east side appear to have been built soon after. Only numbers 1, and 2-8 at the north end of the road are listed locally. Number 17 has a two-storey extension incorporating a front-facing entrance with a single window above. It's garden and white picket boundary fence has since been lost to a paved hard stand. Just visible to the left, the end-of-terrace house at 15a appears to have been an infill, although it is of similar design to number 13, out of view, having a pointed gable. A Ford Capri Mk II is shown parked in the road, and the headlight of a Ford Cortina Mk II is just visible.
