Description
This view shows a remarkable coach house at 1a Fitzgerald Avenue in East Sheen, and what is believed to have once been an adjoining stable block in a Gothic style, now a separate private residence to the rear of 38 Upper Richmond Road West. Both are listed locally as Buildings of Townscape Merit. The Coach House has an impressive sundial on its south elevation, and above its coach door the inscriptions: 'DOMUS.MEA.EST.'; 'DOMUS.ORATIONIS'; 'M.DC.XCVI'. It is possible that reclaimed masonry was incorporated in the building. Beyond is a pair of semi-detached late nineteenth-century houses at numbers 3 and 5 Fitzgerald Avenue, also listed locally. Parked in the street are a Ford Anglia van, showing graphics for Cameron Heating Service Limited of London Road, North Cheam, and a Morris Traveller.
