Description
This view shows three commercial properties on the south side of Paradise Road and the corner of Halford Road, all listed locally as Buildings of Townscape Merit and located in the Central Richmond conservation area of the Borough, opposite St Mary Magdalene's Church. The three-storey corner building seen here with the shop front of Richmond Records has business addresses 1-3 Halford Road (Halford Chambers) and 7 Paradise Road, which has since been used by successive restaurants, most recently as the Diba Persian restaurant. The adjoining two-storey building, now at 7a, appears to be in use as the offices of a marketing firm. The ground-floor cladding has since been removed to provide a larger shop window for New Stitches, the tailoring company currently operating at this address. The three-storey building at number 5 is shown named as Church Cottage and running as Mother Kelly's. It has since been converted to residential use, the awnings having been removed and the boundary fencing remodelled. The view also shows a coated woman walking a bicycle towards Halford Road and a concrete National Express coach stop, surrounded by a somewhat unsightly pile of full plastic rubbish sacks.
