Wisteria Cottage in Park Road
This view shows a detached two-storey Victorian house at number 49 on the east side of Park Road Teddington and has also been known as Wisteria Cottage, Wisteria Villa and more recently as Beville Cottage. Indeed, the photograph shows wisteria covering its frontage, presumably a tradition that successive owners have maintained to the present day. Located in the Park Road Teddington conservation area of Richmond-upon-Thames, like many houses of similar age and style in the vicinity, it is listed locally as a Building of Townscape Merit. Its appearance remains relatively unaltered, although the hedge overgrowing the boundary wall and picket fence has since been removed. The rear of a Hillman Husky estate car with fitted roof rack is also shown to the right of view.
