Cottages in Park Road
This view shows 4 Park Road, Twickenham, the rear half of a pair of houses with matching facades built back to back on the south-east side of the road after it was extended towards the Thames during the 1840s. These houses were originally named Wathcole and Easeby Cottages. Number 2 has since been divided into two properties. The pair is listed locally as a Building of Townscape Merit and is in the Richmond Riverside conservation area of Richmond-upon-Thames. Just visible to the right of view is the modern flat roof of Deniel Lodge, beyond which is the roofline of Madingley, a large riverside house owned by the Piggott family, Frederick Piggott being a local auctioneer and estate agent involved in the development of Park Road, which has since been demolished and the site redeveloped as Madingley Court.
