Description
Bute Lodge is a three-storey stuccoed Regency villa located in the Twickenham Park conservation area of Richmond-upon-Thames. Originally the central one of three villas designed by LW Lloyd for the Richmond vintner George Topham, all depicted in the watercolour 'The Thames at Twickenham' by the artist George Barret in 1824, number 3 Park Road was named Bute Lodge in 1859 by its then owner Doctor Alexander Tweedie, a physician of Edinburgh University. Substantially extended to the rear of the house, mostly since 1945, it was Grade II listed in 1972, listing number 1065364. This view shows the modern extension to the rear of the house's south-west elevation, and to the right of the picture the side of the south-east wing, both of which have since been substantially redeveloped in a style respecting Bute Lodge's heritage status.
