Spring Terrace in Paradise Road
This pair of late eighteenth-century townhouses are in the Sheen Road conservation area of Richmond-upon-Thames and were Grade II listed in 1968, listing number 1065363. Number 6 has early Victorian additions including an Ionic porch, an eaves cornice, and is covered in creamwashed stucco, an appearance which it retains today. Number 5 has had its whitewash removed since this photograph was taken, and the balustraded wall to the front of the house has been truncated to the width of the property. In the foreground is a corrugated roadworkers' shelter surrounded by equipment including a storage trailer stencilled with the trade name Whittaker Ellis Ltd, a coal fire tub, some spades, and some Paraffin road lanterns. An Austin Cambridge is just in view parked on the pavement behind the shelter.
