Description
Park Gates is a mid nineteenth-century Gothic style house in Pembroke Villas at the north corner of Richmond Green. Listed locally as a Building of Townscape Merit, it is in the Richmond Green conservation area of Richmond-upon-Thames on a site once occupied by a road known as Sheen Lane, which led to West Sheen in the Old Deer Park. It is quite different in style from the five pairs of villas numbers 1-10 Pembroke Villas of similar age out of view to the left of the photograph. Since this photograph was taken, the house appears to have lost the ornamental chimney pots and the ornate barge boards under the eaves. A lady with a shopping bag can just be seen to the left of view walking towards a plain park bench. Also shown parked in the road are a Ford Anglia, a Daimler Conquest, a Hillman Imp, and a Ford Corsair.
