Paved Court is a lane between The Green and King Street located in the Richmond Green conservation area of Richmond-upon-Thames. Some of the buildings date back to the late seventeenth century or early Georgian period and are listed by Historic England. This view is from the King Street end looking north-east towards The Green. Most prominent in view to the right of picture is the corner building at number 20 King Street, which was Grade II listed in 1968, listing number 1065374. It is shown as occupied by Goslings, an important local drapers business founded in 1795. John Gosling and Sons Ltd grew into the large store on the adjoining site at 75-80 George Street and were acquired by John Barker & Co Ltd in 1947. After the George Street premises was damaged by fire in 1962, the corner site of George Street and King Street was redeveloped as a Dickens & Jones Department Store in the late 1960s, later rebranded as House of Fraser. The shop buildings at numbers 15-17 to the left of view, seen here as The Fabric House and The Little Gallery were also Grade II listed in 1968, listing number 1357719. Also prominent in view are signs for de Grandcourt antiques shop at number 12, mid-nineteenth century, Grade II listed in 1968, listing number 1285322. The vista is completed by some of the broad leaved trees that surround Richmond Green. Some pedestrians can also be seen at the far end of the lane.
