Interior of Talbot Picture Theatre auditorium in Castle Yard
Interior of the former auditorium of the Talbot Picture Theatre in Castle Yard/Lewis Road in Richmond, built in 1911. It was purchased by Joseph Mears in 1917 but was closed in 1930. The frontage of the Talbot was demolished but the auditorium survived at the rear. It was then used as a garage (Mears Motors) until 1978 when it was demolished. This image shows the roof and upper walls of the former auditorium, now with a selection of cars in the garage, ready for repair. A figure can be seen on the left-hand side working at a bench. The area is now a car park at the back of the Odeon Cinema in Richmond.
