Talbot Picture Theatre auditorium in Castle Yard
Description
View of the former auditorium of the Talbot Picture Theatre in Castle Yard/Lewis Road, Richmond, built in 1911. It was purchased by Joseph Mears in 1917 but was closed in 1930. The frontage of the Talbot was demolished but the auditorium survived at the rear . It was then used as a garage (Mears Motors) until 1978 when it was demolished. It is now a car park. The picture shows several cars in the garage yard in front of the dilapidated building. A sign with the words 'Beware guard dog loose at night' can be seen under the 'Keep Clear' notice.
