In the foreground is the Grade I listed tenth-century stone monument the 'Coronation Stone' which originally stood in the ancient Chapel of St Mary (which had fallen into ruin by 1730) and was moved here to the Market Place in 1850. In 1936 it was moved again to its present position on the High Street outside the Guildhall. Listing number 1080066.
