Houses in Castelnau
Description
Castlenau is an avenue which connects Barnes with Hammersmith Bridge in the conservation area of the same name in Richmond-upon-Thames. This view shows a row of three adjoining mid-Victorian two-storey with basement villas at numbers 173-177, showing their stepped front elevation, on the west side of the avenue opposite Holy Trinity Church. The houses are all listed locally as Buildings of Townscape Merit. The garage premises with parked vehicles to the left of view has been redeveloped into a petrol station with an express shop, and a driveway created serving the Fielding Mews development. On the corner plot, a new building number 171 adjoins 173, of corresponding period style and materials, divided into purpose built flats.
