Houses in Castelnau
Castlenau is an avenue which connects Barnes with Hammersmith Bridge in the conservation area of the same name in Richmond-upon-Thames. This view shows a row of adjoining mid-Victorian two-storey villas with basement at numbers 179-183, with their stepped front elevation, on the west side of the avenue opposite Holy Trinity Church. To the left of view is number 177 of the adjacent row of similar houses, and to the right the end of the row of shop buildings of similar age and style at numbers 185-201; 'Unwins' wine merchant occupied the end shop at that time. The houses and shop buildings are all listed locally as Buildings of Townscape Merit. Parked in the road in front of number 181 is a Leyland Sherpa van belonging to LEB London Electricity.
