Description
A view of the front elevation of Gladsmuir, a grand house in Hadley Common, Barnet. The two storey brick-built villa is five windows wide and has a central front door with Doric porch. It is viewed behind a large hedge. Dating from c1830, Gladsmuir was Grade II listed in 1949 ; listing number 1359075. The house was known as Lemmons from 1968 when it was the home of novelists Kingsley Amis and his wife Elizabeth Jane Howard, who adopted the house's former name. Subsequent owners reverted to the name Gladsmuir.
