Description
View of the front elevations of houses at 33-37 (odd) Gurney Drive, Hampstead Garden Suburb. Numbers 33 and 35 to the left form an asymmetrical pair of about two storeys while number 37 to the right is a detached house. It has a white gate on the path from the pavement and is partly obscured by trees. Front gardens have extensive planting. The rear of an Austin FX4 London taxi with registration number WYU173H can be seen. This part of Gurney Drive was designed by Philip Dalton Hepworth in 1931 in Neo-Georgian style. Gurney Drive was named after Sybella Gurney (1870-1926), who was a leader of the Housing Reform Movement and worked with Henrietta Barnett in the planning of Hampstead Garden Suburb. Dating from the 1930s, the houses still exist.
