View of the Chapel at the ground floor of Hillingdon Court in Vine Lane, Uxbridge, looking west from the bay window in the south-east corner. The highly decorated room features ornate gilded cornices, mouldings and medallions with simple pendant light fittings. A pair of lecterns either side of a hymn board, with another lectern in the foreground, seen with a Mayhew-McCrimmon Parish Mass Book, and furnished with modest painted wooden pews and a small church organ, right. The house is Grade II* listed, listing number 1080114. Hillingdon Court was originally built for banker, Charles Mills, of Glyn, Mills and Company, designed by Philip Hardwick c1858, before becoming a nursing home for the Roman Catholic order of the Sacred Heart c1920, and an independent school from 1978 owned by ACS (Anglo-Chinese Schools) International Schools Limited. The 'Red Room', as it is known, is now used as a classroom, seen with the hallway leading to the adjacent 'Green Room'.
