Description
View of shops at 39 and 40 Windsor Street, Uxbridge, looking west. Shops include A. E. Webb, confectioner and tobacconist, and J. Hutton, fish restaurant, seen with a 'fish and chips' sign above. The shops are Grade II listed, listing number 1181763. The shop window of A. E. Webb has jars of sweets on display along with boxes of chocolates and toffees, 'Victory V' lozenges, 'Tic Tac' mints, with 'YZ' and 'Golden Planet' chewing gum dispensers either side. The 'closed' restaurant has wheel-back chairs, stacked on tables in the window, which has a sign advertising 'LV' luncheon vouchers, and an 'Xpelair' extractor fan at the top. The main post office building is just visible to the left.
