View across the gravel courtyard, of the north elevation of Swakeleys, a substantial manor house in Swakeleys Drive, Ickenham. The seventeenth-century 'Artisan Mannerism' style mansion, along with the outbuildings to the north of the building, are Grade I listed, entries 1080295 and 1286571, respectively. The house was originally built in 1638 for the future Lord Mayor of London, Sir Edmund Wright, and was selectively restored in the 1980s after a long period of neglect. It has recently reverted to a single large residence owned by CES Properties, who are seeking to develop the 25-acre estate which includes Harrington House and Wykeham House. Dozens of crates can be seen stacked up next to the side entrance, together with gas bottles, beer kegs, a pair of ladders, and R White's soft drinks advertising signs, probably associated with the resident London Postal Region Sports Club. A Vauxhall Viva HA can be seen parked on the right next to one of the outbuildings, seen with a fire hydrant sign fixed on the corner chimney, next to a fire equipment cabinet.
